Kids Save Apes

Dear Members of GOPG and KSA:

Thank you in showing interest in Project Plane Palmoil Petition. Every day, orangutans habitats on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra are being destroyed to put Palmoil Plantations in their place. Farmers will see orangutans and other animals and don't think of them of creatures that belong in these forests... they see them as creatures that are in the way of them making money, so they will burn or bury these primates-alive.

Did you know that several airline companies use palmoil in their food products? In fact, palmoil is used in many products. Just read the label on your shampoo or on a box of Girl Scout Cookies and you'll realize that palmoil is a commonly used, everyday product. Scientists argue that palmoil is good for your health, but at what cost does it come? Is it worth taking the lives of orangutans? We have decided that it's not. So, Gigantic Orange Primate Gang and Kids Save Apes are teaming up! We will also be working with the members of Ape Aware, Driven to Destruction, and Project Orangs.

We have decided to focus on one group of companies that use palmoil in their products- airlines. Several airline companies use palmoil in their in-flight products, and so we are going to write to them and tell them why this isn't good. Unlike actual food companies that are weary about changing what products they use in fear that the taste of their snacks will be different, all airlines need to do is pay attention to labels and think about going green and how their company is making a difference in the lives of our endangered primate cousins.

This sounds really good, and im sure I (driven to destruction) will be helping as much as i can.

I think we need to establish exactly what airlines are using palm oil, and firstly write a nice letter to ask them if they knew the risks and the problem with palm-oil. Then... we can start the petitions and things.

Thanks. It would be pretty hard to figure all the airlines that use palm oil in their snacks... maybe first we should brainstorm all the foods they usually use? Pretzels, cookies...? Maybe we should just say "we have noticed that many airlines use palmoil in their snacks. . ". so that wouldn't be directly to them if they don't. Sorry, I'm just brainstorming and writing a draft of a letter i will send to you all after. 

And also, it is not going to be a written petition, more a small group of teens verbally petitioning, if you get what I'm saying
