Educate the People: Save the Apes

Orangutans

Orangutans are known as the "red apes" and live in Borneo and Sumatra - in Asia. Orangutans are herbivores. The males live on their own while females take care of their children. The biggest threat to these red orangutans is logging. The orangutan will try to protect it's habitat, usually losing. Sometimes for a very common product - palm oil, found in your cookies, hair gels, and other sweet treats.Loggers will invade the orangutan's (and other animals) territory - cutting down the forest and replacing the trees with African Oil Palms - not indigenous to Asia. To get these endangered apes out of the way, the loggers will often bury or burn orangutans alive! Orangutans are the most endangered ape - scientists predict only 7,000 are left. Please join us as we work to save the orangutan and abolish palm oil !! Thank you
